The emergence and spread of infectious diseases are facilitated by human activities, as we witnessed during the COVID-19 health crisis. By looking back at the measures implemented and the management of this crisis, it became clear that greater collaboration and better communication between all the stakeholders involved — from researchers to decision-makers, including businesses and, of course, members of the public — would certainly have made it possible to respond more effectively and to communicate more clearly.

It is with these conclusions in mind that the three Graduate Schools dedicated to Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) were created: EID@Lyon, 1H-EID (Paris), and UNITEID (Toulouse). Our three schools have a dual mission: to train future professionals in the EID ecosystem and to fund research projects on this topic.

For this first thematic school, organized by EID@Lyon, Transdisciplinarity will be the central theme! One Health approaches, systems thinking, and collaborative projects — transdisciplinarity is essential: sharing knowledge to better innovate through action is at the heart of what EID@Lyon offers its students.

During this Winter School, professionals and future professionals in health, research, or even the public sector will have the opportunity to broaden their horizons by exploring new disciplines, learning transdisciplinary work, developing new skills in complex project management, and most importantly, building their professional network!

Of course, some lighter activities will also be offered to foster conviviality and (re)discover our beautiful city of Lyon!

This Winter School is open to students from the three EID Graduate Schools, as well as to all Master’s (M1, M2) and PhD students with a particular interest in transdisciplinarity and issues related to Emerging Infectious Diseases, regardless of their home university or discipline (Health, Humanities and Social Sciences, Science & Technology, Engineering, etc.).

Registration is mandatory via this website. Registration fees may be covered by your Graduate School or by your host laboratory (for M2 interns and PhD students): please confirm this coverage before registering. It is also possible to register directly, without specific financial support, by paying the full fees upon registration.

The number of participants is limited to 70.
